Our family’s stayed put here in the UK for quite some time. Ultimately, originally, “our people” came from more warmer climates than London’s but we’ve been here a while now, and there are conventional things that my family’s taken too. Traditions you might say. Extremely traditional things. Dinner get-together sort of events that have gone on for decades or even centuries, to even paintings that we’ve commissioned to immortalize our family’s name and look. A portrait that I especially love hangs in my sister’s foyer. It’s of me, my sister, and my brother, and we had it commissioned at a reasonable price, and it looks very classic, in every sense of the word. It was done by a real artisan, a commercial painter that really knows his stuff, down to the textures of the oils used, to the framing even. I love the frame on that piece; it sets the tone just right.
