If you don’t know of the extent of the processes of the food industry, you may be quite surprised to find out how much real food is altered. Genetic modification of plants and animals has become so predominant in the food industry that nearly 90% of all packaged products found in the supermarkets have an ingredient that has been genetically modified. Corn and wheat are just two food items that are genetically modified. Components of corn and wheat can be found in just about everything on the shelves of the grocery stores and in the foods at restaurants. In addition to this, most of the animals raised by the food industry are fed genetically modified corns and grains. What’s concerning to many people is that there is no way to know which products contain genetically modified foods because the food industry is not regulated to inform customers of this. They do not label foods as having genetically modified ingredients because it is not a requirement.
All foods in the Paleo diet, just as in the caveman Paleolithic era, come from real food that have not been altered by science or the food industry and have only been grown or raised naturally. To do this, farmers who raise animals need to allow the animals to feed on their natural foods, such as allowing the cattle to graze on grass in the pasture. It is important to not feed animals foods that have been genetically modified. Also, animals raised naturally will not have been given hormone injections. Many people feel that meat that comes from animals that have been injected with hormones is not as healthy of a choice as meat that comes from naturally raised animals. For Paleo Diet Recipes, the choice of food will come from naturally raised meats and naturally grown vegetables.

With the arrival of autumn and the imminent threat of the first frosts of the year, garden harvests should be safely gathered in by now. The end of a bountiful season is always something to celebrate, but for cooks it can pose a problem. Just what do you do when faced with a glut of perishable garden produce?
Help is at hand. A collection of frittata recipes can save almost anything from going to waste, even salad vegetables, which can be particularly difficult to use up quickly, since most can’t be frozen. Finely shredded lettuce can be added with beaten eggs to lightly stir-fried peas and shallots, together with a sprig of mint to produce a French-style frittata worthy of the finest table.
If you’re hankering for a frittata with an Italian flavour instead, then chop zucchini (or courgettes) with tomatoes, onions and garlic, and gently fry for a few minutes to soften. Add in beaten eggs and a small bunch of chopped basil and fry on a low heat until set.
The days are gone when the end of summer meant the sound of the family groaning in response to yet another plate of vegetable stew and green salad. Try them with a frittata, and listen to them plead for another one tomorrow!
There are some Indian recipes which are designed to be vegetarian recipes, but that taste equally as good with meat added. Some vegetarian Indian recipes even take this into account and put in parentheses (Add meat if desired). These recipes are typically curries or snacks. Some are stuffed peppers of some description, and you could stuff the stuffing made to be stuffed into the pepper inside a chicken, or mix it with beef and make a flavorful hamburger or meatloaf. Though most vegetarian recipes are not designed with meat eaters in mind, it’s not uncommon for non-vegetarians to add meat to a non-meat recipe. Doing this to an Indian recipe which is not designed to be prepared in this way can ruin the taste of the meal, however. It’s a bad idea to just go adding meat left and right to vegetarian Indian recipes if you still want the unique Indian taste.
If you have ever been to a prom event then you may have noticed the gift bags that are given out at the door. These often include a variety of items such as sweets, and confetti. One of the most popular gifts are Margarita glasses. The latter may seem a bit strange because people who go to proms are under the legal drinking age – so why a margarita glass?
Well first of all they look good with their curvy and elegant design, and they make excellent souvenirs, but they also represent something. These glasses symbolise maturity, giving a young person something that only an adult is supposed to have indicates that the receiver is becoming an adult.
Margarita glasses are among the most eye catching glasses you’ll ever come across, and it’s highly likely that someone who receives one as a gift will keep it for a very long time. All they need to do is pour their favourite Margarita recipe into it upon reaching adulthood!

The famous cuisine of soul food contains many items that are either native to America, or from Africa. If you consider soul food to be a fusion cuisine, it is not that far fetched to imagine it to be so. By far, meat is the most important component in soul food. The most popular meat items in soul food are country fried steak, fried chicken, fried fish, fried turkey, and fried offal.
As for vegetables, okra, kale, turnip greens and mustard greens are popular. Black eye peas and peanuts are also highly sought after. You could say among the vegetables, the humble sweet potato is one of the most versatile soul food items, because it can be cooked in a variety of ways. The baked potatos which are served with butter are called candied sweets.
Cornbread is a common bread item in soul food too. This bread is made from corn flour. There are many cornbread recipes in soul food, such as hoecake and hushpuppies. Besides cornbread, grits are often served. Grits are also made from ground corn.
If you can build a shelter, cook three meals and sleep outdoors in the back yard using only what you brought along and asking no help, then you are a real camper, just as surely as if the nearest town were twenty-five miles away.
The essential tools for every kind of camping are a good jackknife or sheath knife, and a hatchet. If your knife has a can opener on it, so much the better. A good camper knows how to use his tools correctly. He always cuts with the blade of the knife directed away from him. A cut on the hand can be a nasty inconvenience, if not downright dangerous. He always chops on a wooden block. One good slice at a stone or nail will ruin a hatchet blade.
Learn the correct way to sharpen and oil your tools. A good cutting edge can be spoiled by improper sharpening and a dull tool is almost worse than none. Why not take some beef jerky with you to snack on.
